Aneto deprecated

Dragos Stefanache 9 months ago updated 9 months ago 8

Hello,

In the changelog for AnWP Football Leagues Premium v0.15.0 from 2023-06-13 it says that: Aneto theme is deprecated and no longer maintained (but you can use it as long as you want). Our theme recommendations are Kadence, GeneratePress, Blocksy, or any other classic theme. Checking the readme of the latest version of Aneto, which is 0.14.6, i can see that the date is 2023-07-21, so later than the deprecation announcement.

Is Aneto really not maintained anymore?

Thanks,

Dragos

Hello Dragos,

Only security fixes and very minor updates.

The version 0.14.6 has a security fix for one of the libraries included.

Thanks Andrei!

Do you foresee any new features, like adding TikTok as a social network? If no new features are planned, would you suggest creating a child theme, new parent theme or even change the theme itself in order to add new features?

Thank you!

One last thing, do you have a support timeframe for Aneto? We would like to keep using it if a support period is available.

Dragos

I plan to support it for a long time.

But I recommend using other themes if you start a new website.

Great news!

For new sites makes total sense, I was asking because I already have Aneto + ANWP installed.

  • I suppose support will include also bugfixes, correct?
  • If I want to add new functionality to Aneto, would you recommend to do this in a child theme or in a new theme cloning Aneto?

Yes.

Child theme.

Thank you.

I was thinking the same, adding the new logic in the child theme, but in this case I need to extend core functionality which is found in classes (for example adding TikTok to the existing list of social options). Is there a specific way of extending this type of functionality?
